International Summer School for Policing Scholarship
The first ever International Summer School for Policing Scholarship, a program for doctoral students interested in policing, was held May 31-June 4, 2016 at the University of St. Andrews in St. Andrews, Scotland. The summer school was organized and hosted by the Scottish Institute for Policing Research (SIPR) and George Mason University.

The Division of Policing sponsored a welcome dinner for American students attending the summer school.
Program
The summer school featured a week of presentations, discussion, and activities designed to expose students to new perspectives on policing theory and methods, as well as cutting edge research on a number of topics, including police technology, the use of research in practice, and police reform.
Participants
The summer school included 20 graduate students from the United States (George Mason University and Arizona State University), Scotland (Edinburgh Napier University, Glasgow Caledonian University, Open University, and University of Dundee), and Norway (Norwegian Police College and University of Oslo).
Faculty giving presentations included Division Executive Counselor Cynthia Lum (George Mason), Division Secretary-Treasurer Cody Telep (Arizona State), as well as a number of other distinguished scholars from the United States and Scotland.
